Model train and truck display – 2009

Once again for the Christmas season i assembled a layout at the museum in the Santa Fe depot here in town. This year i had to set it up so there was an aisle from the front door to the rear of the depot (unlike how i set it up last year. I didn’t lose any space though, and in fact this one was bigger (10′X20′ vs. 12′X13′ last year). Also this time i didn’t have 2 lines cross at grade, which was 1 less headache. And not 3, but 6 HO scale loops plus an N scale one. And of course my Tyco US-1 trucking stuff made an appearance again. I had my sound equipped engines there on opening day (besides the BLI SD-40, i now have a Life Like P2K Y-6b Mallet with a Tsunami sound decoder, i can’t operate the whistle on DC though), but here i have plain DC ones (a mix of Athearn, LL P2K, Bachman, IHC, and Tyco). It took 3 weeks worth of nights to set it up this time. And despite my best efforts, on the opening day it was a struggle to keep all 7 trains running at the same time (luckily a few of the visitors helped me out in some cases). Other stuff included my collection of Ertl 1:64 scale tractors, some HO scale Nascars, and trucks (near the end is a little HO truck project i’m almost finished with
).

cool set up
@trainster100 I control the trucks so they either clear the crossing or stop at it before the train gets there. There has been collisions though. In fact regarding your 1st comment, that’s what happened at 1:47 XD The train came uncoupled and i forgot to stop the trucks.
Sorry about my last comment. Accidentally hit “go” on my iPod touch. Anyway. I see they stop at the crossing when a trains going by, but what about when a trucks going across as the train just comes up to it?
Have you ever had a train hit one of those Tyco trucks before? I see that they stop at the
