Are you talking about the simple train-sets sold in model and toy shops ??? (examples: http://www.athearn.com/Search/Default.aspx?SearchTerm=Warbonnet&CatID=THS )
OR, are you talking about complete layouts with landscape and buildings ?? Here is a source of quick-layout kits:
http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/items.cfm/MURModuleKits
There are DOZENS of small companies out there who design and construct model layouts for those with LOTS of money and a lack of time or skills… I won’t list any, because they’re MY competition.
I WILL suggest you go to a model-hobby shop and buy a copy (and back copies) or subscribe to Model Railroading Magazine: http://www.trains.com/mrr/
A GOOD layout can take a decade or more to build, and easily cost THOUSANDS… mine current layout is in it’s 4th year of construction and has sucked $3000 out of my wallet. I also work with a local HO club that’s been building for 15 years and has $50K of hardware and equipment.
GOOD LUCK, and feel free to ask more for clarification
